Over 20 years of experience

  • I received both a MA and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from the University of Hartford, completed in 1998 and 2004 respectively.  I completed a predoctoral internship at the Northhampton VA in Leeds, Massachusettes in 2003 with a focus on PTSD and military sexual trauma.  Following this experience, I completed my post doctoral training at the Wheeler Clinic in 2005 with a specific focus on Women’s Trauma issues.

  • I have extensive experience in the treatment of substance abuse and trauma issues in general, and also have experience working with children and adolescents at the Wheeler Clinic in Plainville, CT (1998-2002) in outpatient and intensive outpatient settings with clients who had a history of family domestic violence and substance abuse.  Additionally, from 2002-2006 I provided treatment to survivors of domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, childhood physical abuse, and a range of other traumas at both Northampton VA as well as the Wheeler Clinic.

  • From 2003-2006, I was active in developing and facilitating women’s trauma groups and advanced women’s trauma recovery groups at the Wheeler Clinic.  Furthermore, I was an active member of the State of Connecticut's Department of Mental Health and Addictive Services (DMHAS) Trauma Leadership Team during this time.  Based on my level of expertise in trauma related issues, I was identified as a member of the Adult Services Staff who specialized in the treatment of client’s with a history of trauma and domestic violence and provided trainings to new staff regarding effective trauma treatment.

  • From 2006 until 2008, I consulted to the State of Connecticut's Department of Children and Families as a Domestic Violence Expert/Trainer and Consultant where I provided insight and guidance to child protective staff regarding engagement with family members and the impact of domestic violence on family systems.  I also consulted and trained community mental health professionals as well as attorneys.

  • In 2008, I refocused my clinical interests in the private sector providing services to an adolescent and adult population with a specialization on trauma issues.  I also provided consultation as the Learning Coordinator of an Integrated Family Violence program funded by the Department of Children and Families where I provided ongoing supervision and training to agencies offering this in-home based service, and ultimately monitor the functioning of a multisystemic system.

  • From 2009 to the present, I have been involved in providing individual, family, and couple's psychotherapy in private practice.  I received EMDR training and have been successfully treating client's with this technique since 2013.

  • In 2018, I became trained in Neurofeedback using the EEGer 10-20 system.  This training offers relief to a variety of symptoms and is helpful in increasing neuroplasticity in areas of the brain that have been affected by emotional/psychological/physical/sexual trauma, developmental trauma, brain injury, migraine headaches, physical symptoms associated with anxiety disorders, anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders.
